The International Day of Scholastic Nonviolence

This Day was founded in the United States by the organisation EPOCH (End Physical Punishment for Children) with the goal of attracting attention to corporal punishment of children (called in English "No hitting day" or "No smacking day" or "Day of nonviolence for children").

It was initiated in France in April, 2004 by an active group of parents from the association of support for parenthood "The House of the Child", created in 1998 to guide parents on how to raise their children with respect for nonviolence.

This site indicates that in 2006 more than 500 demonstrations throughout the world had marked this day.
