On July 3, 2025, Delia Mamon, founder and president of the Graines de Paix Foundation, spoke at the international panel Harnessing Education for SDG Progress, organized by Jusoor International for Media and Development, on the sidelines of the 59th session of the UN Human Rights Council.
In her closing address, she shared the lessons learned from integrating peace education into national school curricula in Benin and Cote d’Ivoire.
This pedagogy, based on empathy, non-violence and reflection, enables children to acquire emotional tools to defuse tensions, improve their academic success, and contribute to social cohesion.
She showed how peace-based education makes it possible to reconcile learning at school (MDG 4) with building more just and peaceful societies (MDG 16).
The panel also included:
– Munia Islam Mozumder, Executive Director of Teach For Bangladesh
– Reem Noureddin, specialist in education in crisis situations
