Celine Maret

General Manager

Céline Maret joined the Foundation Graines de Paix in June 2023 as Director. With over twelve years' experience in managing and coordinating programs in humanitarian emergency contexts, Céline promoted and defended the rights of refugees and internally displaced people, according to the humanitarian principles.

Prior to joining Graines de Paix, she has been seconded from the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) to the UNHCR Global Protection Cluster, and to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Geneva. She mobilised and built strategic partnerships with donors, UN member states and key stakeholders and set up and coordinated effective inter-agency governance structures.

Past experience also includes coordinating refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) camps in Bangladesh, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Chad, Somalia, and Sudan. She has designed and implemented strategies, strengthened networks of humanitarian and governmental partners, developed innovative partnerships, and ensuring strong advocacy actions. Leading steering committees allowed her to guide strategies in a consultative way, and thus strengthen advocacy actions, particularly in the education sector.

She began her career with two international NGOs, Solidarités International and the Norwegian Refugee Council, respectively in Sudan and Burundi. She holds a Master's degree in ethnology, sociology and psychology from the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
