Biography

Jimi Hendrix was a rock guitarist, singer and author-composer, who was adulated from his very first recording (Hey Joe) and all along the four short years that followed. He gained his fame from the way he composed electronic music, which literally electrified the crowds.

He died in Great Britain after months of extenuating tours, at the age of 28, following what was judged post-mortem to be an overdose of sleeping pills.

The quote "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace" is regularly attributed to him. This quote is close to that of William Gladstone (1809-1898): "We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace."

The power of love to bring peace

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
